Traditionally, 25th wedding anniversaries are associated with silver. So why not use that hue in elegant, modern or whimsical ways as the theme for an anniversary party? Cue up the cool jazz soundtrack with a little help from pianist Horace Silver, break out the silver-spangled tulle and the silver dragees. Here's how.

Disco ballA second honeymoon is a lovely way to celebrate a wedding anniversary, especially when it's a big one, like the 25th. But if you want to celebrate with friends and family, whisking everyone off to Greece, Tuscany or Hawaii is going to be more than a tad pricey. So why not use that honeymoon destination as inspiration for an anniversary party at home? This Greek feast includes wonderful small plates fare, a little sirtaki music - and perhaps some Abba - and plenty of fun.

Celebrate with an anniversary party that recalls your dating heyday, back in the 1980s. The light-hearted, retro fun of a 1980s theme party evokes those days when hair was big, fashions garish and the music incredible - and you were falling in love. So moonwalk with your sweetie, groove to Madonna and remember that girls - and boys - just want to have fun. Here's how to throw that '80s party.

What happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas? Well, not if you met there, married there or honeymooned in that dazzling desert city. Then that glorious love affair came home too. So celebrate your big anniversary with a Las Vegas-style anniversary party at home, complete with casino games, eclectic soundtrack and even a philanthropic twist.

Ah, bella Italia... those days spent in Venice, Tuscany or Capri were divine on your honeymoon. Now they'll inspire this anniversary celebration, from the food - salumi, antipasto and Prosecco, anyone? - to the music. It will be amore indeed.

Las Vegas SignHawaiian shirts, grass skirts, coconut bras - and fabulous fruity cocktails. Is there anything more fun than a Hawaiian-style luau? Celebrate your anniversary in tropical style with tiki torches, teriyaki and ukulele tunes. Then bring on the hula lessons.

Remember photo booths? You climbed in, the camera flashed a few times, and voila, an old-school photo strip emerged with four funny images. Well, those retro booths are making a big comeback. They're popping up at weddings, grad night parties, proms and other bashes, where they not only snap pictures, they provide hours of amusement. And they're perfect for wedding anniversary parties too. You can rent one, but it's even more fun to make your own.

Need help w/ parents 25th anniversary ideas

by lullabystar

So, I am starting to plan my parents 25th anniversary. It's a little over a year away but with all the $$ I will most likely be spending, I want to get a head start. They want to go to hawaii and I want to have a party for them. I was wondering if anyone could help me with the following:
I live in Leominster, Mass. Should I rent a hall in Leominster, in Stoneham where my mom's family lives, or in Lowell where all of my dad's family lives (which would be like a 1/2 way point for anyone coming from leominster/worcester and from stoneham)???
Any ideas for what I can raffle off? or ways to make money for my parent's trip (ya know

First off, thanks to Ivarsgirl and mplscawed. You two were great! If anyone else still has any ideas for me, please feel free.
And Yes, I all ready posted this in women's forum BUT someone thought it would be a good idea for me to post it in the wedding section! So I did.
My parents can actually pay for their own way to Hawaii. They are actually well in doubt. However, this is their 25th Wedding Anniversary! To some people, it's a big deal. The children are supposed to throw them a party and stuff. WE WANT TO SEND THEM TO HAWAII! So don't be so quick to judge my parents when you don't even know

Anniversary party help!

I know this is a wedding forum, but it was the closest I could find to anniversary...
My parents' 25th is a year from now and I'd like to plan a surprise party for them. I'm on an extremely tight budget and would appreciate any advice!!
I was thinking we could hold it at our church (which would probably be free) and just do it in the afternoon and have cake, punch and coffee. I'm just not sure how much all this is going to cost me (I'm a college student...)
Again...I would greatly appreciate ANY advice or ideas!! Thank you!
